The Book List
is a short and fun meme that allows you to share books with the blogosphere and make a list. Who doesn't love lists? It is hosted weekly by Rebecca at Lost in Books
I saw this at the adventures of cecelia bedelia
and I love the topic.
1. Ender's Game
by Orson Scott Card
It's not so much that I thought I'd hate it, I just wasn't personally interested in it. But it is my husband's favorite book and when we started dating, I figured I should read it since he doesn't read a lot of fiction. And if he was that interested in this book, I should give it a try. And I loved it. I think it is one of the most brilliant book ever written.
2. The Forest of Hands and Teeth
by Carrie Ryan
Zombies? Not my thing. But it got such good reviews I reluctantly read it and was surprised by how much I liked it. It was compelling and spooky. The main character is still a little touch and go for me, but the book itself is one of the best zombie/YA books I've read.
by Maggie Stiefvater
Another werewolf book, I thought. But I needed something to listen to in the car. So I picked up Shiver
. Wow. This is one of the sweetest and most beautiful books. I don't know if it was the narrators that conveyed the love and devotion the main characters felt, but every day I couldn't wait to get in the car to hear what happened next.
I haven't read Ender's Game but I have a student who read it and he's bugging me about reading it! I'll hopefully get to it.ReplyDelete
I liked the other two as well. Forest of Hands better than Shiver. Forest has withstood the time test. Shiver I enjoyed but it(ok to be honest) has grown to slightly annoy me but I think it's all the Linger hype right now :) I'll be reading Linger tho. Gotta find out what happens.
I need to try Enders Game :)ReplyDelete
Great post :)
Simple, to the point, and cute :)
I love Enders Game . . . and Shiver is on my TBRReplyDelete
@Jill - Ender's Game is one of the best books.ReplyDelete
@Juju - Thanks!
@kaye - I hope you like it.
What a fun way to highlight books you read and didn't expect to like! I don't know how many of these I'd come up with, since I usually only read books I expect to like, but very cool!ReplyDelete
