Weekly Round-Up 3/1 + an award!

Weekly Round-Up is my wrap-up of last week's activities and includes what I'm reading this week and anything of interest plus From the Library, my weekly listing of what I've checked out from the library.

This week I'm reading Rampant (Peterfreund), The Clue in the Hollow Oak (Keene), and Fire (Cashore) or at least attempting to.  I'm listening to Wicked (Maguire).

Since last week I've read Shades of Grey (Fforde) and The Clue in the Broken Locket (Keene) and I've listened to Finger Lickin' Fifteen (Evanovich).

Reviews posted:

Fearless Fourteen (Evanovich) (audio)

Award:

Nina from J'adore happy endings has given me the Love Your Header Award.  Aw, thanks so much.   My header was done by Adori Graphics who also made my brand new menu bar.  I love her work so much.

From the Library is my weekly listing of what I checked out from the library recently.  I also checked out some Nancy Drews in addition to these and some research books for work which no one would be interested in.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
(How awesome is this cover, seriously)
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

Band Geek Love - Josie Bloss
(for the What's in a Name Challenge)
All band, all the time. That's how trumpet goddess Ellie Snow has made it to senior year. No drama, no dating. Just keeping lock-step within the safe precision of the Winslow Marching Band. She's a fierce section leader now, and so over the heart-crushing social disaster of her freshman year. No boy is going to ruin Ellie's shining moment-her senior solo performance at the homecoming game.
And then Connor Higgins shows up. Not even Ellie can resist the trumpet player who could be a model for Abercrombie & Fitch. It's a hook-up made in band-geek heaven! But Ellie's not ready to publicize their romance, not even to her best friends. After all, Connor's just a sophomore. What would everyone say? Breaking formation and revealing her true self would be like . . . marching on the field completely naked!
Then Ellie discovers the flipside of secrets and how it feels to be shut out by the ones she loves.

  1. My family started listening to From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler during a car trip this weekend. We all love it so far and wish we could visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art!

I read Wicked last summer and enjoyed it. It took me a while to get into it, but it really grew on me. I think it's just so creative to consider the backstory to such a famous tale! I also saw Wicked on Broadway last year - an amazing show!

  2. I'll be curious to hear what you think of Hush Hush. I've read it so long ago now, that sometimes I think I need to reread it!
